The following is a letter from Saxe Middle School Principal Greg Macedo issued to Saxe Middle School parents Monday. It is presented in its entirety. As a disclaimer, the opinions of the letter writer are not the opinions or views of Patch. In this instance, they are right on target:
Dear Saxe Families,
As we approach the anniversary of the tragedy in Sandy Hook, we are all calling to mind many strong feelings and memories.Â
Official reports of the events are going to be made public this week. There is a possibility that information will be released [Monday -- ed.] afternoon. The reporting may contain graphic images and, most likely, replay after replay of the tragedy.Â
Please try to limit your children's exposure to the media. This would include TV, radio (in the car), internet and even our own conversations. Children are acutely aware of everything we do and say. They also pick up information that we tune out (TV left on in another room, a car radio that shifts quickly to news coverage, etc.).Â
We appreciate how difficult this time may be for families. Please let us know if you feel that your child(ren) may need particular attention as the anniversary approaches.
Greg Macedo
