The Move Back Into Town Hall Starts Wednesday with Town Clerk's Office

The Town Clerk's Office will be closed Wednesday as it moves back into Town Hall; next, Public Works and Parking will close and move May 4.

Tuesday (today) is the last day the Town Clerk’s Office will be located in space above Walter Stewart’s Market in New Canaan, Wednesday it will be closed and on Thursday it reopens in the newly renovated New Canaan Town Hall.

The office is the first major one to move back into Town Hall after the renovations, according to the town government website. On Monday, May 4, the Public Works Department moves from New Canaan Police Headquarters into Town Hall, and that day the Parking Department will move from above Walter Stewart’s (237 Elm St.) over to Police Headquarters.

Remember: On Moving Day for each department, it will be closed to the public and reopen to the public the next day in its new location.

On Tuesday, May 5, its Moving Day for the Tax Assessor and Tax Collector’s offices, which will close above Walter Stewart’s Market (also known s Stewart’s Office Building), reopening in Town Hall on Wednesday, May 6.

Moving times for other offices were not in the announcement, but the next moves will be the First Selectman and Finance Department offices, now on the second floor of Police Headquarters (“Phase Two”) and then land-use offices now in a building at Irwin Park (“Phase Three”).
