New Canaan Announces 2 New Government Appointments

Paul Payne and Aggie Aspinwall have been appointed to new positions.

Nov. 10, 2020

Paul Payne, a 12-year employee in the Town Building Department, has been appointed Fire Marshal by the Fire Commission, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen. Paul replaces Fire Marshal Fred Baker who retired at the end of October. Paul has been an assistant Fire Marshal since 2010. John Pokorny will continue to serve as Deputy Fire Marshal.

Agata “Aggie” Aspinwall, an 18-year employee of the Town, has been appointed Director of Lapham Center. Aggie has been serving as Interim Director since the retirement of Lyn Bond at the end of June. Aggie has held several positions with the Town and has been at Lapham Center for 9 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been busy keeping programs going using Zoom and staying in touch with residents.

First Selectman Kevin Moynihan said “We are very pleased with the appointments of Paul Payne as Fire Marshal and Aggie Aspinwall as Director of Lapham Center. Both Paul and Aggie are example of the talent we have in our Town staff and are well deserved promotions from within. We wish Paul and Aggie success in their new roles.”
