New Canaan Coronavirus: 91-Year-Old Resident Dies From The Virus
Bill Pike, a longtime resident of New Canaan, was the state's second casualty from COVID-19.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 91-year-old longtime resident of New Canaan was Connecticut's second casualty from the new coronavirus (COVID-19), announced Gov. Ned Lamont and New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan.
Bill Pike, a retired Wall Street businessman and member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in New Canaan, passed away on Wednesday at Norwalk Hospital where he had been treated.
"All of New Canaan is very saddened by the passing of our friend and long-time resident Bill Pike due to Covid-19," Moynihan said on Thursday. "Bill was a true gentleman and revered figure among his many friends and business colleagues on Wall Street. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill’s wife Cathie and her family."

The family had been in quarantine for an undisclosed amount of time before Pike was admitted to Norwalk Hospital, according to St. Mark's.
The Rev. Elizabeth Garnsey, who visited Pike earlier this week before his passing, also is in self-quarantine, church officials said. She has not shown symptoms of the virus, and she is in contact with state and local health officials.
Pike was the state's second victim of COVID-19. Also on Wednesday, a Ridgefield man in his 80s also passed away; he had been residing at an assisted living facility in town, and was treated at Danbury Hospital.
As of Wednesday, there were 96 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Connecticut, 69 of which were in Fairfield County.
(Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that Rev. Garnsey had symptoms of the virus. She is asymptomatic but is in self-quarantine.)
