New Canaan Fireworks Celebration Postponed
New Canaan's 2021 Family Fourth Fireworks Celebration, originally scheduled to take place this weekend, has been postponed.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan's 2021 Family Fourth Fireworks Celebration, originally scheduled to take place Saturday, has been postponed to July 11 due to "inclement weather" this weekend, according to town officials.
The July 11 event will take place at 5 p.m. at Waveny Park. Due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, passes are restricted to New Canaan residents and their guests only, according to a news release.
All cars must enter through either the South Avenue entrance to Waveny Park or the New Canaan High School entrance on Farm Road. The Lapham Road entrance will be closed to all traffic.

Entry passes must be displayed on the drivers side dashboard and visible through the window. Pedestrians with passes should enter the park from the high school parking area.
Activities will include family picnicking and several gourmet food trucks. Live music will include "Mind the Gap" from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and the Town Band from 7:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., with fireworks scheduled to start soon after.

New Canaan residents can now purchase entrance passes at $35 per car in person at the following locations in town:
- Recreation Department, Waveny House (677 South Ave.)
- Town Clerk, Town Hall (77 Main St.)
- Walter Stewart's Market (229 Elm St.)
Proof of residency is required to purchase passes in person. Dogs, drones, grills, candles, personal fireworks and sparklers are not allowed at the event.
