New Canaan PD Seeks Information On Puppy Sales By Suspect
Catherine D. Palmer, a 48-year-old Greenwich woman, was arrested on a warrant earlier this week on multiple charges of cruelty to animals.

NEW CANAAN, CT — As the animal cruelty investigation continues, the New Canaan Police Department Animal Control Unit is asking for the public's help in finding out to whom Catherine D. Palmer recently sold puppies, authorities announced.
Palmer, also known as Cassie Palmer and Cassie Aris, was arrested on a warrant Sunday charging her with three counts of cruelty to animals in connection with an investigation that began in August. The investigation continued into September when three dead puppies were discovered in a home Palmer owns in New Canaan, police said.
Authorities are seeking information on Palmer's recent activities, because police said she "was traveling around New England over the Thanksgiving weekend with a vehicle full of puppies making deliveries to individuals who had purchased the puppies."

"One family received their puppy on November 25th at midnight, only to end up in the emergency room on November 26th with a puppy in critical condition," New Canaan police said. "The puppy did not survive, this incident occurred in Massachusetts."
Prior to Palmer's arrest, New Canaan Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm had seized a dozen dogs from the New Canaan home, after they were found living under poor conditions. Those animals are doing fine, according to police.
In addition to the warrant arrest, New Canaan also is seeking custody of the dogs, and during a virtual court hearing on Wednesday, Palmer argued that the conditions the animals lived in at the house were not poor, as police had described, writes the New Canaan Advertiser.
