New Canaan PD Warns Residents To Stay Off Roads Thursday

NEW CANAAN, CT — With snow continuing to fall in New Canaan and throughout the state Thursday afternoon, the New Canaan Police Department is warning residents to stay off the roads to allow plows to clear them.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Southern Connecticut to 1 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 5, according to the National Weather Service, and a Coastal Flood Advisory for low-lying areas is in effect until 2 p.m. today.

This Afternoon: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Areas of blowing snow. High near 25. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. Windy, with a northwest wind 32 to 34 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly before 9pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 8. Wind chill values between -10 and zero. Windy, with a west wind 20 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 12. Wind chill values between -5 and -10. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 1. Wind chill values between -10 and -15. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Saturday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 11. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -1.
