New Canaan Resident Alerted To Fire By Passer-By: Report
The fire reportedly occurred Sunday afternoon at a home on Main Street.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A napping New Canaan resident was alerted to a fire in her detached garage Sunday when a passer-by heard a crackling sound and saw the flames, reports The Hour.
No injuries were reported in the 2 p.m. fire, which may have been caused by the improper disposal of ashes from a fireplace in the Main Street home.
According to fire officials, the department, which quickly extinguished the Main Street fire, has responded to two other fires caused by ash disposal.
