New Canaan School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in New Canaan is August 30. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The New Canaan Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/30: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/21: No School (Rosh Hashanah)

November

• 11/7: No School for Students (Professional Learning)
• 11/22: Half Day
• 11/23 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/5 - 12/8: Grades K-5 Early Dismissal (Parent Conferences)
• 12/22: Half Day
• 12/25 - 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)

January

• 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)

February

• 2/16: No School for Students (Professional Learning)
• 2/19 - 2/23: No School (February Vacation)

March

• 3/30: No School (Good Friday)

April

• 4/6: No School for Students (Professional Learning)
• 4/9 - 4/13: No School (Spring Recess)

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/15: Last Day of School, Half Day (Pending Any Cancellations)
