Connecticut Weather: New Details About 2 Snow Chances
There are two chances for accumulating snow in the upcoming forecast. Here are the latest details.

New details about snow chances this coming weekend still remain a bit of a mystery but the one thing that seems certain is, if Connecticut receives snow, it’s not going to be significant. NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said none of the latest computer models show more than four inches. He also stressed while odds are increasing for some accumulation, we won’t know more until we get closer to the weekend.
There are two chances for some snow, late Friday, early Saturday and again on Sunday. But before we get to this weekend, Connecticut will experience rain showers today and a heavier rain tonight, which tapers off by the Wednesday morning rush hour.
Hanrahan said in one computer model which is run 50 different times, 20 percent show no measurable snow for this weekend while 1 in 3 show at least two inches.

“So - needless to say - odds are increasing for at least some accumulating snow this weekend. There are two opportunities for it one on Friday night/Saturday morning and another on Sunday. One thing worth pointing out is that none of the 50 ensemble members show over 4" of snow in a 24 hour period this weekend. No "big" storms are modeled right now. So that's where we are... just waiting a bit longer for our computer models to figure out the atmosphere a bit better. It's still early so we'll have to wait another day or two,” Hanrahan said.
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, “Umbrella Alert! Windy today with scattered showers from time to time. Heavier rain tonight and windy. The rain will end 4-7AM Wednesday then the temp DROPS all day! Colder for the extended forecast.

Simmons said as of Tuesday morning the “snow systems look less impressive today for the weekend. I will be watching these closely for you.”
The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Hartford and Tolland counties saying, "The potential exists tonight for a brief period of southerly wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph...This may result in isolated downed trees and the eventual need for a wind advisory."
The weather service also states, "A period or two of rain and/or accumulating snow exists Friday into
the weekend if a couple waves of low pressure track close enough to the coast. This remains highly uncertain at this time, as it is also possible that precipitation remains out over the ocean leaving us mainly dry.
