Connecticut Weather: New Updates On Midweek Snow Chance

There are two upcoming chances for snow in the forecast for Connecticut. Here are the latest details on the stormy weather forecast.

Heavy rain is falling and will continue until around 3 a.m. Monday and then all eyes turn toward a mid-week storm that could bring "accumulating snow" for parts of the state and more rain to Connecticut, according to top meteorologists. NBC Connecticut Meteorologist said Sunday that "Wednesday continues to look messy. A snow to mix to rain scenario appears likely."

It appears that the coast is looking at a mix of snow and rain Wednesday morning changing quickly to all rain, while inland and northern sections of the state may see some snow accumulation before the precipitation changes to all rain.

In a forecast for NBC Connecticut, Sweeney said, "Chance for snow developing during the morning (Wednesday), changing to a mix and rain during the afternoon. Accumulating snow is possible."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologists said Sunday night that the Wednesday storm is, "Looking more and more like rain and not snow. A mix is still possible inland with highs in the 30s to low 40s."

"This forecast will be tricky, because of all the moving parts. Low track will be key, strength of the warm air surge will also be pivotal, and the potential for moisture on the back side of this storm sticking around means that there could be a decent swath of mixing after the cold front moves through," Fox 61 Meteorologists said.

As for after the big game tonight, if you have to travel just expect heavy rain and wet roads. Temps are too warm for snow or mixed precipitation. An inch of rain is expected before it tapers off.

Once the rain ends early Monday, it sets the stage for cold weather to return and the storm chance on Wednesday. More snow is possible on Saturday too.
