New York Resident Purchases Winning Lottery Ticket In New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, CT — A Pound Ridge, New York, resident is more than $56,000 richer after purchasing a winning lottery ticket this week in New Canaan, according to the Connecticut Lottery.

Francis Tavolacci won $56,780 playing the "CASH5" game. The winning ticket was purchased from the Keans Korner, LLC, on South Avenue.

The pari-mutuel game, in which tickets start at $1 per wager, has a top prize of $100,000, according to the lottery. Drawings are nightly at about 10:29 p.m.
