The New Canaan High School Athletic Department held its National Letter of Intent Signing Day Ceremony on November 23 at Waveny Castle. This event is held for any senior athlete signing a National Letter of Intent, a commitment to an NCAA Division 1 or 2 college or university, or those with a “likely letter” from an Ivy League school or the United States Military Academy’s version of a commitment letter. Nine athletes committed to their colleges/universities at this highly celebrated event. There will be a separate signing day for football athletes in December.
Henry Benton (coxswain, crew) will attend University of Wisconsin-Madison (coach Chris Clark). Ryan Caione (midfielder, lacrosse) will attend Bucknell University (coach Frank Fedorjaka). Charlotte Frank (diver, swimming and diving) will attend Tulane University (coach John Sirmon). Maddie Haley (swimming) will attend Georgetown University (coach Jack Leavitt). McKenna Harden (midfielder, lacrosse) will attend the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (coach Jenny Levy). Alex Pastushan (swimming) will attend Boston University (coach Bill Smyth). John “Duke” Plum (crew) and Dylan Thom (heavyweight rower, crew) will both attend Georgetown University (coach Luke Agnini). Christopher Canet (midfielder, lacrosse) did not attend the ceremony but will attend the University of Pennsylvania (coach Mike Murphy).
