FARMINGTON, CT — Attorneys Norm Pattis and Kevin Smith, who represented accused wife-murderer Fotis Dulos, are barred from discussing the Jennifer Farber Dulos case as part of a civil lawsuit settlement, reported the New Haven Register.

The agreement between the two law partners and the estate of the late Fotis Dulos calls for Pattis and Smith to pay nearly $140,000 and not speak about the case for 40 years, according to the publication.

Fotis Dulos was accused of kidnapping and murdering his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos, in May 2019, but he died after a suicide attempt in January 2020, before he could stand trial.

Pattis and Smith had received a retainer of more than $250,000 from Fotis Dulos a couple of weeks before his death, which they kept. Attorneys for Fotis' estate, and his former mother-in-law, Gloria Farber, argued that in that short amount of time, the two did not perform $250,000 worth of work to warrant keeping the money.

Farber won a judgement against the estate for money that Fotis Dulos had borrowed from her and her late husband, and the money Pattis and Smith have agreed to relinquish will go toward that debt and other creditors.

Pattis and Smith also must not speak about the pending cases of Michelle Troconis and Kent Mawhinney, the two defendants charged with conspiracy to commit murder who are accused of assisting Fotis Dulos in the plot.

Additionally, the two attorneys also cannot be involved in any book or movie deals involving the case.

The settlement with Pattis and Smith still needs approval from Farmington Regional Probate Judge Evelyn Daly.
