Open Letter: Our 1913 Library Building is Timeless
"Let's retain the character of our wonderful town and not do something we'll certainly regret in the future."

Dear Members of Town Government,
I and my family have lived in New Canaan since 1996. We believe in preservation, particularly when it comes to landmark buildings such as the New Canaan Library. The NCPA had an expert present possible options for repurposing the building last year. Keith Simpson, a renowned and highly respected New Canaan Landscape Architect has reviewed the “plans” for the new library green and has developed a viable plan for preserving the 1913 Building, his plan should be carefully considered as part of this process.
Our Planning and Zoning Commission should continue to follow the thoughtful Plan of Conservation and Development and Village District Design Guidelines and preserve this historic landmark.

Please let’s retain the character of our wonderful town and not do something we will certainly regret in the future. This new library will appear dated in the next decade, while the 1913 Building is TIMELESS.
Thank you for your consideration,
