Police: Man Exposed Himself Through His Window
Police charged a 30-year-old Richmond Hill Rd. man with disorderly conduct after a neighbor said he exposed himself by a window of his home.

A 19-year-old woman told police that her 30-year-old neighbor had exposed himself near a window of his home as she was walking by, New Canaan police said.
Police gave this account of the incident (an accusation not proven in court), which resulted in the arrest of the man:
The woman (now 20 years old) was walking past the home of her neighbor, Patrick Smith, on Richmond Hill Road when she saw him exposed, including his private pats, through the open blinds of his window. The incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on March 23.

She waited over a week before going to New Canaan Police Headquarters to tell police about the incident, which she did on April 4.
Police spoke to Smith, who said he didn’t do anything like that. Police applied for and received a warrant for Smith’s arrest. A police report was unclear about whether or not police tried to get in touch with Smith to inform him they had the warrant, a standard department policy.

Smith was arrested April 18 on Milport Avenue, near Lakeview Avenue, after an officer saw him on East Avenue.
Smith was not charged with indecent exposure, but instead with disorderly conduct, a charge which does not necessarily imply that the accused meant to be sexually provocative.
Smith posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear April 27 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
