Police Release Photos of Suspected Shoplifter

If you've seen this woman or know anything about the recent theft of clothing at the Athletic Shoe Factory, police hope you'll tell them.

UPDATE, Monday, April 20, 4:07 p.m.: The suspect has been identified as a 17-year-old New Canaan girl. New Canaan Patch has removed her picture from the article.

New Canaan police have released store surveillance photos of a woman at Athletic Shoe Factory on March 25 suspected of shoplifting more than $200 worth of clothing.

If you know who this woman is or know anything about the theft, police are asking that you contact them.

The woman is described as white, about 20 to30 years old, about five feet, four inches in height, with brown hair and wearing an oversized gray jacket, according to a report in the New Canaan News.

And if she’s wearing anything she stole, she may be getting somewhat fitter.

At about 5:35 p.m., on Wednesday, April 1, a manager at the store on 3 Forest St. told police that some items had been stolen from the store. The manager checked surveillance video at the suggestion on March 25 of a store employee, who suspected the thefts, the report said.

Stolen from the store were a Nike Element zip-top jacket priced at $75, a pair of Adidas women’s three-inch compression shorts priced at $40, and two Nike sports bras, each priced at $50, according to the report.
