Resident Concerned About Center School Lot Library Parking

"Additional changes ...are a detriment to the core reasons people chose New Canaan to enjoy and live in."

Dear New Canaan Town Planner, Planning and Zoning Commissioners, and Parking Commissioners,

I am a relatively new resident of New Canaan. I moved here 3 years ago and chose my residence to enjoy a town that has a rich architectural, historic and small town atmosphere. The uniqueness of the town are its small shops and restaurants. With the new library I am concerned about the building becoming a larger than life issue. There is a very pertinent discussion to be had about some of its aspects drawing away from the retail center of the town. One of the many concerns and an issue that needs to be more closely researched and discussed is the Center School parking lot.

I am writing to you as a neighbor of the Center School Lot to show my support for preserving the Center School Parking Lot with its beautiful mature trees and ample green space. I very concerned about plans to alter the Lot to accommodate library patron parking and the likely uptick in lot usage for evening and weekend library events. I am also concerned about the increase in noise with the proposed lawn or outdoor room for library programs and private events, and how this will affect my enjoyment of my property.

As I have said I am only here 3 years but notice the immense change with the huge Vue structure that now dominates the entry way to the town and has changed the DNA already. Additional changes in this direction—are a detriment to the core reasons people chose New Canaan to enjoy and live in.

Thank you,
