Thief Strikes on Lakeview Avenue after Sandy

Three thefts from motor vehicles were reported on Halloween.

Police received three complaints of thefts involving motor vehicles on Lakeview Avenue on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

A 52-year-old male reported he had approximately $1,000 worth of tools stolen from his vehicle sometime since Oct. 29. The man said he locks his car but when he returned to it, found the driver’s side door unlocked.

A 39-year-old female reported she had a $60 pocketbook stolen from her car. The thief gained access by smashing the passenger-side window.

A 22-year-old female reported she had two bottles of alcohol stolen out of her vehicle.

“There’s a very good possibility they are related,” Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said.

On Nov. 4, employees at Ralph Lauren on Elm Street reported a pocketbook valued at $3,950 was taken from the store on Nov. 1. A person in question surrounding the theft is described as a tall, thin young male who was wearing a dark hoodie and carrying a dark backpack.

The case remains under investigation.
