Thousands Flock to Caffeine and Carburetors Sunday
They buzzed around bright and shiny sports cars in the first Caffeine and Carburetors event of the year.

Classic cars and foreign sports models attracted ogling hordes Sunday morning in downtown New Canaan, as youngsters, oldsters and gear heads with cameras oohed and ahhhed over spiffed up speedsters.
An estimated 5,000 spectators crowded around 600 cars on display downtown from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
New Canaan Police, CERT, the auto club at New Canaan High School and many volunteers were vital to the success of the event, said Caffeine & Carburetors founder, Doug Zumbach, the owner of Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee at Pine and Grove Streets.

“We have a tendency to lean toward sports cars, with the occasional Model A or 1920’s Rolls Royce, but our emphasis is on foreign sports cars,” the “About” page of the Caffeine & Carburetors website says. “We enjoy all vehicles and there are no sponsorships or awards associated with our gatherings.”
The event generally takes place about six times a year. If you missed the event on Sunday, you can go to another on these dates (mark your calendar):
