Traffic Patterns Studied On New Canaan's Nursery Road: Report

Mobile phone apps are being blamed for an increase in traffic in the area.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Traffic has increased during certain times of the day in recent years along Nursery, Marvin Ridge, Gerdes and White Oak Shade roads, and area residents are calling on the town to address the problem, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.

The roads are located near the Merritt Parkway and the increase, primarily during the morning rush hours, is partially being blamed on mobile phone apps that direct drivers to use local roads when traffic on the thruway is backed up.

As many as 200 cars per hour pass through that area during surge periods, up from about 40 normally.
