NEW CANAAN, CT — Police said a vehicle was recently stolen and items such as a purse and a catalytic converter were taken from cars parked in New Canaan.

In a news release Tuesday, Chief of Police Leon Krolikowski said the department first received a call from a Summit Ridge Road resident Friday around 2 a.m. reporting two men attempting to steal the resident's vehicle.

Krolikowski said the vehicle, a 2014 Porsche Boxster, was stolen and the owner told police the vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside.

According to Krolikowski, a cell phone was also reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Jelliff Mill Road around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The following night, a catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a lot in the area of Richmond Hill Road and Park Street.

"Please remember to always lock your vehicles and take the keys with you," Krolikowski said in a news release. "Secure valuables; never leave valuables in your vehicle. Often, identity theft occurs when drivers' licenses and credit cards are stolen."
