New Canaan Man Accused In Wife's Shooting Death
Albert Kokoth, 77, of New Canaan, was arrested after police said his wife Margaret was shot to death.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A New Canaan man was arrested Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife.
Albert Kokoth, 77, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree assault with a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm. He was held on $1 million bail.
Police Lt. Jason Ferraro said Kokoth called police Thursday around noon and said there was an accidental shooting at a home on Down River Road. Ferraro said Kokoth's wife, Margaret, was shot and killed.

"A subsequent investigation determined that a crime occurred," Ferraro said in an email, adding additional charges against Kokoth are expected.
Ferraro said the department's investigative section is leading the investigation with assistance from the Stamford State's Attorney's Office, Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad and the state Medical Examiner's Office.
