Attempted Armed Robbery Reported At Newington Salvation Army: PD
An employee of the store suffered minor injuries in the attack.
NEWINGTON, CT — A lone armed robber pistol-whipped an employee of the Salvation Army Family Store and Donation Center in Newington Saturday during an attempted robbery, according to Newington police.
The employee suffered minor injuries in the attack, which occurred at about 5:25 p.m. after he and another employee had closed the facility.
Police said the suspect had a silver-colored handgun when he approached the employees in the parking lot and demanded money. He then struck the employee with the handgun, but whether he obtained any money was not disclosed.

"The male [suspect] fled the parking lot and was observed fleeing north bound on the Berlin Turnpike in a silver or gray Ford Sedan," Newington police said.
The suspect was described as being dark-skinned with a medium build. He was wearing a black beanie with a black hooded sweatshirt, gloves, black pants, black shoes and a royal blue face mask.
