Newington Gun Shop's Flyer Causes Controversy
The flyer sarcastically advocated for allowing undocumented immigrants to legally purchase firearms.
NEWINGTON, CT — Newington gun shop Hoffman's Guns for the Good Guys has come under criticism after posting a flyer on its Facebook page.
The flyer read, "Free Guns For CT. Illegals* Hoffman's Gun Center wants to join with the ever talking Senator Murphy & the distinguished veteran Senator Blumenthal in helping our illegals in CT
"We want to find a pathway for illegals to legally purchase firearms so they can protect their family on their perilous journey to & from the border and to keep thieves away from their food stamps and all the other freebies that they so richly deserve."

State Sen. Matthew Lesser (D-Newington) called for the store to apologize.
"This disgusting, racist flyer in no way represents the Newington that I know and love,” Lesser said. “White supremacy and human trafficking are shameful stains on our society, not a cheap marketing gimmick or a joke. This language is hurtful and further victimizes and ostracizes innocent people. They should apologize immediately.”
