Newington Obituary: Ashley Rakus, 35

Ashley Lynden Rakus, 35, of New Britain, passed away from heart related causes on July 5, 2018.

Originally from Newington and Narragansett, RI, she graduated from Newington High School, Class of 2001. Ashley was known for her exceptional kindness, love for her family and her wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Ashley is survived by her parents, Peter and Patricia Rakus, Jr. and her brother, Peter Rakus, III and Ashley’s’ longtime companion, Steve Ewald. She is also survived by her uncles and aunts, Eugene and Sandy Sheehan of Glastonbury, Rudy and Lisa Palmer of Glastonbury and Michael and Barbara Chesky of Marlborough, Michael Stuka of Vernon and many loving cousins. She will also be mourned by her beloved pets, her German Shepherd Sophia and her guinea pig Marvin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Mary Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington. Burial will be held in Narragansett, RI at a later date. There are no calling hours.
