Newington Obituary: Carol Lea, 79

On Sunday, July 15, 2018, Carol A. Lea (“Grandma Newington”), 79, was called to eternal life at Grandview Rehabilitation and Healthcare.

Born on July 7, 1939, she was a longtime Newington resident before settling to Berlin. Carol had worked as a telephone operator at New Britain General Hospital for over 10 years.

Carol’s greatest love was her family. She led a very colorful life where she lived by her own rules. Although her ways could add a peculiar dynamic at times, one always knew where they stood with her. At the end of the day, you always knew she loved you with all of her heart.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her sons, Michael Lea and his wife Maria of Newington, Mark Lea and his wife Carol of West Hartford, David Lea and his wife Ann of Berlin, Kevin Lea of CA, and Christopher Lea of Rocky Hill. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, Keri, Stacy, Erica, Amanda, Michelle, Nicholas, Matthew, Ryan, Garrett, Megan, Christopher, Sawyer and Delaney, and her former husband Michael E. Lea of Columbus, OH. She was predeceased by a grandson Michael Lea, Jr.

Her life and funeral will be celebrated on Friday, July 20, at 11:00 AM at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave, Newington. Committal services will follow at West Meadow Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call for visitation on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Newington Memorial.
