Newington Obituary: Joanne Gallicchio, 76

Joanne Elizabeth Gallicchio, 76, of Ellington and formerly of Wethersfield and Newington, was the beloved wife of Anthony Gallicchio. Joanne passed away surrounded by her family at The Hospital for Special Care on June 21, 2018, on her own terms, in her own way.

Born on June 4, 1942, in Hartford, Joanne was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anne (Attardo) Torneo. Joanne was married to Tony, her lifelong love and best friend for 56 years. They were blessed with 5 children and 13 grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons, Anthony Gallicchio Jr. and his wife Risa of Colchester, Rocco Gallicchio and his wife Kimberly of Ellington, Nicholas Gallicchio and his wife Jaime of Newington, her daughters, Terri Charpentier and her husband George of FL, and Karen Gallicchio and her partner Lesley Morgan of Newington as well as her grandchildren, Rocco and his fiancé Tina, Marina and her fiancé Scott, Julen, Tiffany, Nick Jr., Cole, Alexi, Mya, Anthony, Geno, Brooke, Kenzie and Drew. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Edward Torneo.

Joanne and Tony enjoyed traveling at a young age and upon her "retirement" moved to Crystal Lake, where she enjoyed drinking red wine and yelling at Papa.

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday morning, June 26, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, with the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Newington. Committal services will follow the mass in West Meadow Cemetery.
