Newington Obituary: Oscar Martin, 94

Oscar H. Martin, 94, of Newington, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Yvette R. (Chasse) Martin.

Born in St. Agatha, ME, son of the late Gilbert and Alice (Baron) Martin, he was a Newington resident for over 30 years and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed carpentry and was part owner of M & P Pipe Jacking in Newington.

A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves his eight children, Donald Martin and his wife Louise of HI, Jean Gilberte of West Hartford, Phyllis Martin of TX, Jackie Martin of New Britain, Rich Martin and his wife Linda of Southington, Guy Martin and his wife Carlene of Columbia, Lori Farley and her husband Ernie of New Britain and Sharlene David and her husband John of Newington, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He also leaves his three sisters, Francoise Plourde, Louise Tardiff, Lorraine Dufour, all of ME, his sister-in-law Loretta Martin of Plainville, brothers-in-law, Ernie Caron of New Britain, and Clayton Tardiff of ME, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, June 4th, from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest beside his wife with military honors in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
