Newington Resident Honored in 60 Over 60 Awards

Newington resident Terry Borjeson was recently honored with a 60 Over 60 Award.

BLOOMFIELD, CT, June 20, 2017 – Newington resident Terry Borjeson was recently honored with a 60 Over 60 Award. This is the first year the awards have been presented to Connecticut citizens over age 60 that make a difference in the lives of others or in their communities. The 60 Over 60 award was created by Duncaster as a way to showcase the lives of people 60 or better who continue to have a unique impact on their world, their communities or the lives of others. Borjeson was celebrated at a reception on the Duncaster campus in Bloomfield.

Borjeson, a candidate for Mayor of Newington, was honored for his devotion to community service. For 29 years, Borjeson has held various positions in the Connecticut’s judicial branch, working his way up from an adult probation officer to deputy director of administration for adult probation and manager of adult service programs in the Court Support Services Division. After retiring in 2003, he took consulting jobs, served as an official on Newington’s Town Council and became senior area director of Community Solutions. He has donated his time to such causes as the New England Council on Crime and Delinquency, Newington’s Community Emergency Response Team, and the Capitol Region Council of Governments, for which he chaired a committee on the implementation of CTfastrak for the four towns impacted. He and his wife, Cece, continue to volunteer for the town’s Human Services Department at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Duncaster began their search for 60 Over 60 on January 1. They received nominations of remarkable individuals from throughout Connecticut. “Our state has so many extraordinary people who are 60 or better so we were not surprised at the number of nominations we got. Clearly there are many people who wanted to recognize people 60 or better for their continued accomplishments,” says Carol Ann McCormick, VP Sales and Marketing at Duncaster. “We’ve all heard of 40 Under 40 awards that highlight the successes of this group of people. We thought it was high time to recognize the ongoing inspiration and achievement of those 60 or better. We were delighted with the response to it.”
