Bernice A. Chase, 81, of New Britain, formerly of Newington and Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Jerome Home. Born on September 1, 1936 in New Britain, Bernice was the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna (Variale) Compano and the beloved wife of the late Robert P. Chase. Bernice earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Central CT State University, New Britain.

She taught school for a brief time leaving to raise her family in Newington. Bernice and Robert enjoyed traveling, taking many cruises to the Caribbean. A beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Bernice is survived by her son, Robert P. Chase, Jr. of Arlington, MA; her son, David Chase and his wife and three children of Port Washington, NY, her sister, Shirley Luppino of Southington and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family on Wednesday evening, August, 15, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Committal Services in West Meadow Cemetery will be held privately at a later date.
