TCC donates care kits to nearly 3,000 senior communities in honor of National Nursing Home Week

Round Room LLC, the nation’s largest Verizon Authorized Wireless Retailer, announced today that more than 500 of its TCC stores have donated 3,000 care kits to senior living communities across the U.S. in honor of National Nursing Home Week, which took place May 14-May 20. The Bel-Air Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newington received a donation from the local TCC store on May 15.

Each participating TCC store partnered with a local nursing home to provide residents with care kits—valued at $37 each—filled with adult coloring books, word finds, crayons, colored pencils, playing cards, tissues and more. Each kit is intended to help nursing home residents exercise their minds and creativity in different ways.

“We feel that it’s just as important for senior citizens to participate in new and different activities aimed at increasing mental stimulation as it is to remain physically active,” said Scott Moorehead, CEO of TCC. “Providing seniors and their caretakers with these supplies to use as a fun pastime is one more way we are ‘Making Communities Better,’ and we’re proud to be able to do it.”

TCC continues to make ongoing investments through its Culture of Good movement. Earlier this year, TCC donated supply packs to more than 5,610 teachers across the U.S. In 2016, its efforts included donating 135,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children, contributing $100,000 for materials used to improve the environment, and pledging $250,000 to Make-A-Wish, enabling the organization to grant 25 wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions across the country.
