Who Has The Best Sandwich In CT? The Daily Meal Weighs In

The foodie website has picked the best sandwich in all the 50 states. Do you agree with their selection for Connecticut?

NOANK, CT — Sandwiches are a wonderfully flexible invention. Put whatever you want between two pieces of bread — or into a wrap or a bun or any other bread-adjacent item — and, boom, it's a sandwich. It's simple, easy, and, more often than not, delicious.

But who has the best sandwiches? The Daily Meal has answered this obviously subjective question, naming the best sandwich in each of the country's 50 states.

In Connecticut, the best sandwich is the Hot Lobster Roll at Abbott's Lobster in the Rough in Noank.

"Steaming lobsters and other shellfish since 1947, Abbott’s is one of America’s best seafood shacks, turning out stellar lobster rolls in a handful of increasing sizes," the article reads. "Its Famous Hot Lobster Roll comes with a quarter-pound of butter-soaked lobster on a toasted bun. The OMG Hot Lobster Roll boasts almost a half-pound, while the LOL Hot Lobster Roll packs in a full pound of lobster."

Abbott's Lobster is a seasonal restaurant and will open the first weekend in May.

On Yelp, the restaurant gets high marks for the beautiful views. One reviewer described his experience: "The 'famous' lobster roll was great. Served on a sesame seed hamburger bun, it's just a perfect amount of food when paired with the lobster bisque which was also very satisfying... A perfect lunch."

Perhaps The Food Network would disagree with this best sandwich assertion, as they recently named Stratford legend Gaetano's the best deli in the state.
