2 Area Lakes Closed Wednesday Due to Poor Water Quality

A Danbury and New Milford area lake are both closed Wednesday due to the water quality.

NEW PRESTON, CT — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has closed several area lakes and beaches on Wednesday due to poor water quality.

In New Preston, near New Milford, Lake Waramaug is closed. In New Fairfield, near Danbury, Squantz Pond Swimming area is closed.

The DEEP collected samples and analyzed them the Department of Public Health Lab for the presence of certain indicator bacteria. Local health departments sample municipal beaches and swimming areas.
