Big Retailer Inks Lease at Litchfield Crossings in New Milford

The new store will be located next to Kohl's, and around the corner from its sister company, Home Goods.

NEW MILFORD, CT — TJ Maxx, a retailer of discount brand name and designer fashions, has signed a 10-year lease for a 22,000-square foot retail store in Litchfield Crossings, one of Litchfield County’s largest shopping centers.

The new TJ Maxx was specifically designed and is being custom-built for the retailer. The new store will be located next to Kohl’s, and around the corner from its sister company, Home Goods.

“We are thrilled to announce this new addition to the Litchfield Crossings family. TJ Maxx is slated to open this spring and will be a wonderful asset to the center and a great addition for our shoppers,” said Kristen Gizzi, Executive Director of the Crossings.

TJ Maxx, owned by TJX Companies, has more than 1,000 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, making it one of the largest clothing retailers in the United States. TJX Companies also owns HomeGoods/Homesense, and “off-price” retail chains Sierra Trading Post and Marshalls. Corporate sources attribute TJ Maxx’s rising sales, in-store success and continued growth to the retailers focus on experiential retail or “treasure hunting”at their physical locations — “the draw of in-store bargain shopping is difficult to replicate online…the ability to touch and feel merchandise leads to instant gratification, which is particularly attractive to millennials.”

Litchfield Crossings and its management and development company ECCO Development LLC, an affiliate of ECCO III Enterprises, Inc. is owned by the Westchester based Gizzi family.
