
NEW MILFORD, CT — A family-friendly emu jumped a fence Jan. 7 and has been missing since.
Louis is 6-foot-2 and is friendly, but afraid of dogs and children who approach too quickly, according to a post in the Litchfield County Lost and Found Pets Facebook page.
Anyone who has seen Louis is asked to call Valerie at 860-355-1694.

Emus are the second largest birds in the world after the ostrich and are flightless, according to the San Diego Zoo. They are capable of reaching sprint speeds of 30 mph and can travel long distances.

He answers best to Louie. He is friendly but will be afraid of dogs. He will also be afraid of young children if they approach too fast or loud. He loves lettuce and apples and bread and may approach if you talk softly with his favorite treats. Not aggressive at all.
