Eversource Energy Continues to Celebrate Arbor Day

New Milford is invited to join on Saturday, May 21 when Eversource arborists hand out tree seedlings and share about planting.

“Arbor Day marks a great time of year to plant new trees and remind property owners to plan before they plant,” said Sean Redding, Manager of Vegetation Management at Eversource. “Trees and power lines can coexist, by considering the height of a mature tree and planting only low-growing trees near utility lines.”

Eversource arborist recently read ‘A Tree is Nice’ to students at the Barkhamsted Elementary School and talk about tree trimming and safety around power lines. Free dogwood seedlings will be given to each student. Eversource arborists will also hand out free fir seedlings at the Whiting Lane Elementary School Nature Festival in West Hartfordon Friday.

Eversource will continue the celebration of trees in May. Trees will be celebrated on Saturday, May 21 at the 10th Annual Connecticut Tree Festival at Cranbury Park in Norwalk. Eversource arborists will hand out tree seedlings and share the benefits of planting the right tree in the right place. The discussion will focus on trees and power lines, highlighting the most appropriate place for planting under or around them. An informational “Plan Before You Plant” brochure is available on the Eversource website, here.
