The company expanded the New Milford plant in 2014.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Kimberly-Clark, makers of Kleenex and Huggies diapers, announced Tuesday that it would layoff between 5,000 and 5,500 employees worldwide as part of a restructuring plan due to lackluster sales, reports The New York Times.
The Dallas-based corporation says it plans to close or sell 10 manufacturing facilities as part of the restructuring, but the fate of its plant in New Milford was not immediately known because details were not released. The company expanded the New Milford site in 2014, writes the News-Times.
The layoffs represent about 13 percent of Kimberly-Clark's workforce, and the company hopes the restructuring will save the company about $550 million by 2021.
