New Milford To Boost Schools If State Cuts Less Than Expected
New Milford expects to receive about $619,000 less from the state for the coming fiscal year.
NEW MILFORD, CT — The Town Council has announced it is looking into ways to reimburse the schools in the event that the cuts in state money are less severe than anticipated, the News-Times is reporting.
The olive branch comes in the wake of the council's decision to trim about $1 million from the school's initial budget request. The $102.6 million 2019-20 budget adopted by the Town Council last week envisions nearly $39 million for the town and $63.6 million for the schools, which is still 1 percent above the current school budget.
New Milford expects to receive about $619,000 less from the state for the coming fiscal year, based upon Gov. Ned Lamont's proposed budget.
