New Milford Firefighters Battle Brush Fire on Candlewood Mountain
First responders were met by a wall of white smoke
NEW MILFORD, CT — Firefighters fought to contain a brush fire on Candlewood Mountain Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 10:00 a.m., crews from Water Witch Hose Company No. 2 in New Milford were dispatched to Candlewood Mountain for a reported brush fire.
First responders were met by a wall of white smoke filling the Candlewood Vista neighborhood, according to their report. One crew entered the woods from above to quickly stop the leading edge of the fire, while a second crew climbed the steep terrain from Candlewood Shores to contain the lower half of the fire.

With assistance from Gaylordsville, Northville and Sherman emergency crews, firefighters had the blaze under control within an hour. No homes were reported as damaged.
