New Milford Man Rear-Ends Truck and Flees Scene: Police

Witnesses to the accident called it into the police, and also reported that one of the vehicles had left the scene

NEW MILFORD, CT — State Police arrested a New Milford man fleeing the scene of a crash on Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. near Exit 17 on Interstate 84 westbound in Waterbury.

Witnesses to the accident called it into the police, and also reported that one of the vehicles involved, a 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport, had left the scene.

Troopers tracked down the vehicle and arrested its driver, Jeremy Gaston Ranslow, 23, of New Milford.

Ranslow rear-ended a 2016 International 4000 Series 4300 truck that had slowed down for traffic, according to police. The truck driver was taken to Waterbury Hospital for "possible injury," according to the accident report.

Ranslow was charged with DUI, possession of narcotics, following too closely, driving without a license, and interfering with an officer. He was released on $2,5000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on April 26.
