New Milford Voters Pass Road Funding, Roof Repair, Library Bond
Voters approved three bonding packages at a Special Town Meeting held May 28
NEW MILFORD, CT — Voters approved three bonding packages at a Special Town Meeting held May 28, advancing funding for roads, the library and some city rooftops.
Residents approved up to $8,500,000 for costs related to renovations and improvements to the New Milford Public Library, which consists of the addition of a second story, updates of all mechanical systems, the addition of a security system, and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, among other improvements. Another $5,000,000 is now earmarked for costs related to roof repairs and improvements at various town buildings, including New Milford High School, Sara Noble Intermediate School, and Town Hall. Residents gave the town the go-ahead to pave, repair, and otherwise improve the roads for $10,000,000 .
Mayor Pete Bass said: "New Milford is taking critical steps forward to address our infrastructure and taking into account the many recommendations put forth by our Facilities Utilization Committee this past winter. Road repair is an ongoing component of New Milford's government initiatives. I thank the voters for placing confidence in our proposals and look forward to them being executed this summer."
