Obituary: Amos W. Doering, 90, of New Milford

Amos had served honorably in the U.S. Army during the WWII era and went on to work for many years as a mechanic for SNET.

NEW MILFORD, CT -- Mr. Amos W. Doering, 90, passed away on August 19, 2018 at Glen Hill Center in Danbury.

Amos became a widower in 2016 when his wife Josephine L. (Pruchnik) Doering passed. He was born May 22, 1928 in Buckeye, Iowa, son to the late Henry and Hilda (Rice) Doering. He had served honorably in the U.S. Army during the WWII era and went on to work for many years as a mechanic for SNET. Amos was a member of the VFW Post in New Milford and enjoyed playing pool with his friends and visiting the fairs to see the draft horses.

He is survived by a sister Helen Reynolds of Connecticut, his stepchildren, Michael Merrill and Melissa Pezzolo both of New Milford, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, at 11 a.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford. There will be a calling hour starting at 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private.
