Several Hospitalized Following Early Morning Fire in New Milford
First responders found a structure fire with heavy fire and smoke at a multi-family home
NEW MILFORD, CT — Firefighters and EMS crews from around the area responded to an early morning residential fire that sent several people to the hospital.
Water Witch Hose Company #2 of New Milford reported they received a call for a multi-family house fire at 2:07 Thursday morning. First responders to the site on Housatonic Avenue reported a structure fire with heavy fire and smoke from the rear, and called in a second alarm, bringing crews from Northville, Gaylordsville and Brookfield.
On occupant was immediately taken to the hospital with smoke-related distress. Additional emergency crews from Sherman, Washington, Brookfield, Bridgewater, and Danbury responded to evaluate 10 other occupants, many of which were transported for smoke inhalation and minor burns, according to the report.

The fire was brought under control within an hour and units were able to clear the scene by 4:30 a.m.
Information as to the extent of the residents' injuries, and the cause of the fire, has not yet been released.
