Sippy Cup Filled with Gas Source of New Milford Arson: Report

Police say the arsonist used gasoline from her child's sippy cup to set the residence of her husband and his girlfriend ablaze

NEW MILFORD, CT — Police charged a Bronx woman with the arson that caused $30,000 in damages at a local condominium complex, the News-Times is reporting.

Monique Cook-Lino, 47, of Adee Avenue in Bronx, NY, turned herself into police this week. Last Valentine's Day, she set fire to the residence her husband shares with his girlfriend by using her child’s sippy cup filled with gasoline, according to the Republican-American.

Law enforcement officials tracked Cook-Lino down through witness statements, video surveillance and the investigatory efforts of New Milford Police Detectives, Connecticut State Police and Fire Marshals.

Police charged Cook-Lino with first-degree arson and second-degree false statement. She is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
