SONIC Drive-In Opened In New Milford
The New Milford Drive-In is locally owned by SONIC co-franchisees Steven Berney and Mir Ahmed.
Press release from Sonic: The first SONIC® Drive-In opened in New Milford, Conn. Saturday, August 29, bringing a one-of-a-kind experience and SONIC’s high level of service to the community. Featuring to-go options such as a drive-thru and walk-up service, the SONIC is conveniently located inside the developing Route 7 Travel Plaza at 291 Danbury Road.
The New Milford community and those passing through are welcome to share a new flavor experience with SONIC and taste the brand’s staple menu items like the Premium Beef All-American Dog, sweet and tangy Cherry Limeade or crispy, golden brown Tots. Additionally, those stopping by on grand opening day will be treated to a delicious complimentary Corn Dog with each purchase, all day long.[i]
The New Milford Drive-In is locally owned by SONIC co-franchisees Steven Berney and Mir Ahmed, owner of the Route 7 Travel Plaza, ANZ Petroleum and the Sunoco gas station on-site. Ahmed plans to feature a Tesla Supercharger and a 7-Eleven at the Travel Plaza to offer guests multiple new conveniences. Together, Berney and Ahmed will create more than 40 jobs in the community.

“We have always been huge fans of the brand, so opening a SONIC at the growing Travel Plaza is a dream come true,” said Berney. “Our team members have been busy training for the opening day and cannot wait to welcome New Milford guests to stop by and experience SONIC’s unique menu offerings and over a million drink combinations!”
The New Milford SONIC will be open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
