Transformer Move to Close Route 7 in New Milford

The move is being escorted and coordinated by the Connecticut State Police.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Transportation authorities are preparing to temporarily close Route 7 for another transformer move this month.

Route 7 in New Milford will be closed beginning at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, and reopened at 5:00 a.m. the next morning. The temporary closure is necessary to facilitate an approved movement of an oversized vehicle carrying a transformer weighing 700,000 pounds on a specialized 12-axle trailer.

According to Mayor Pete Bass, it will be a "moving closing" in which the road will be closed in the area where the transformer is located at the time. Once the transformer leaves the area of the road, then that portion of road will be open.
