Cohen Receives Endorsement of Connecticut Against Gun Violence

Cohen is running for Ted Kennedy's open seat against Republican Adam Green in the 12th Senatorial District.

Christine Cohen, Democratic candidate for State Senate in the 12th district, has received the endorsement of Connecticut Against Gun Violence - one of the state’s oldest and largest grassroots organizations dedicated to ending gun violence.

In their endorsement letter, CAGV noted that Cohen will be a “strong advocate and true leader that we can count on to strengthen and protect the gun safety laws that help give Connecticut one of the lowest rates of gun violence in the nation.” Additionally the group noted that Cohen has, “distinguished herself by making support for strong gun laws and other measures a key part of her platform, and making it clear that she will be a proactive champion to the cause of preventing gun violence.”

“As a mom, and School Board member, I’ve worked to stop bullying, curb violence and keep guns out of our schools,” said Cohen. “I believe that children have the right to feel safe without fear of gun violence. My opponent sought and received the endorsement of a fringe guns group who want to roll back common sense gun safety measures, which would make it easier for criminals, domestic abusers and the mentally ill to have access to firearms. As the next state senator for Branford, Durham, Guilford, Killingworth, Madison, and North Branford, I’ll never kowtow to extreme special interest groups and I will keep fighting to keep our communities and families safe from gun violence.”
