The driver who was ejected from his car after hitting a telephone pole on Sunday night has been identified as Isaiah Harrington, 21, of Cornwall, a town in the northwest corner of Connecticut.
While Lieutenant David D'Ancicco of the North Branford Police Department confirmed that Harrington survived the crash, Yale-New Haven Hospital could not yet confirm his condition.
D'Ancicco said that, on June 30, a motorist in Madison reported a vehicle driving recklessly and in the wrong lane. The vehicle was said to be traveling toward Guilford, but units in both towns were not close enough to respond.
A North Branford patrol car awaited the vehicle, but before the officer could pursue the vehicle in question, it was out of sight. When the officer rounded the bend on Route 80, heading toward East Haven, he came upon the accident.Â
The car had spun several times after making impact with the telephone pole, ejecting Harrington through the driver-side window.
More details will be posted as they become available.Â
