Update: 18-Year-Old Killed In North Branford Crash

Pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital, first responders had "performed extraordinary efforts," to try to save Jonathan Boughton's life.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT —An 18-year-old North Branford man was killed in a car and moped crash Monday at the intersection of Foxon and Sea Hill roads, police said.

"It is with deep sadness, the North Branford Police Department must announce the identity of the individual who was operating the moped involved in the fatal motor vehicle accident last night. The operator is identified as Jonathan Boughton, 18 years old from North Branford, CT. Our heart goes out to the Boughton family, relatives, friends and North Branford community."

Boughton suffered what police said were life threatening injuries and though "emergency first responders performed extraordinary efforts," he was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to the North Branford Police Department.

Police said the crash is under investigation but noted that the driver of the car, who suffered "minor injuries," stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Foxon Road was closed at Notch Hill Road and the Guilford town line for hours.

"We mourn with the family and the community in this devastating loss," police wrote on Facebook. Police said the identity of the victim will be released once notifications have been made.
